Yeah, the Saruman death scene was a large point of content. But necessary to have a clean conclusion to the third movie. Would have added another 30 minutes at least to the runtime and dimunished the destruction of the ring.

Flatscreens as big as his desk didn't exist.. Being able to view security cameras VIA the web or IP address didn't exist.. This movie made all those technologies possible because people wanted what they saw and worked toward it.. Worked toward making it real.. --- In 1982, the computers had JUST started getting into homes.. The internet, as it is today, was only a dream.

Do NOT feel bad that you like this one better than the first. That is every film maker's and star's wish. The follow-up film does just as good or BETTER. When you see a SERIES, the goal is NOT to lose the audience before the series is even over. You want each step to go Higher and HIGHER until you've reached the end. Or Climax of the series. I’ve been a Tron nerd since I was six in 1982.. This OG is my favorite film of all time along with Legacy. I was there during the whole Flynn Lives ARG and being at Hall H at SDCC when our voices were recorded for the film. I can’t wait for Tron:Ares which comes out soon. It’s great to see others these days watching Tron today. It’s definitely one of the most eye candy technology ever made! If you want to see Karl Urban in a really great role, you need to watch RED. It's a bit like this movie but a lot more quirky and funny.

I like the development of Bourne's character... it is so good. And Pamala being... not so secretive and hostile. The next may be my fave though.

Armageddon is an action movie, Deep Impact is a disaster movie so Deep Impact wins with me every time.

Fun Fact: There was a TV pilot made in 1975 based on the movie called Black Bart that starred Louis Gossett Jr. Warner Bros. made the series so they could retain the rights. The pilot is on UA-cam and there's a rumor that they made four seasons of six episodes each which remain in the WB vault, never to be seen. It doesn't look like the character of Jim was in it.

You should read the book. I know you think Jack is a total dick but the book portrays him as bit more sympathetically. A weak man preyed on by the hotel rather than some domestic abuser with next to no redeeming features. Books more about a haunting than a psychological thriller

Unless you're familiar with Hollywood lore, some of the best jokes won't register with younger audiences. Madelaine Kahn (Lily von Shtupp) played a Marlene Dietrich parody; the "horn-swagglin'" bearded guy was an homage to old western character actor Gabby Hayes; Randolph Scott, who every doffs their hat to, was an iconic western movie star; Hedly Lamarr's name was a corruption of 30s & 40s screen siren Hedy Lamarr, and quite a bit more.

I don't want to spoil but according to Tim Cain (the father of Fallout) Vault Tec did *not* start the Great War. This could be a very big red herring...
